Do I need a website if I have a Google Business Profile?
Short answer: Usually, yes. Your Google Business Profile helps people find you on Google Maps and search, and see your reviews, hours and phone number. Your website is where they decide: your services, your work, your prices and an easy way to enquire. Most local businesses do best with both, linked and saying the same thing.
What each one does
| Google Business Profile | Website | |
|---|---|---|
| Who controls it | Google’s rules and layout | You |
| Best at | Being found on Maps; reviews; hours | Explaining your services; winning the enquiry |
| Space to explain | Short descriptions and posts | As much as you need |
| Your own email address | No | Yes, on your domain |
Why most businesses need both
- Your profile gets the click; your website wins the job.
- A website gives Google more about your services and areas to work with.
- You own your website. A profile can be changed or suspended under Google’s rules.
Make them work together
- Use the same business name, address and phone number on both.
- Link the profile to your website, and your website to your reviews.
- List the same services and service areas.
- Add fresh photos of real work to both.
